When reading the owners manual, I realized the problem was not the phone at all, but the OS.

Windows Mobile does not close any application when you navigate away. For instance, if you make a call starting from Contacts, the Contacts app will remain "running" until you go into the Task Manager and stop it by holding the HOME key. It does not automatically close once the call is made or ended. All the apps I was running wore out the battery in no time. Notepad, messaging, IE, etc.

Since this discovery, I haven't had to use my extended battery at all and charge my phone once a week. BTW, this is my primary phone, I have no home phone.

If you need/want proof, go compare the new Motorola Q being offered by AT&T with the model at Sprint or Verizon. The differences are night and day -- and this is running the same OS that you can find on any HTC device which acts completely differently.

I didn’t have the light running for more than 15 minutes. The battery lasted approximately 6 hours before recharging. The LCD, however, had a few dead pixels - never saw this before. Tried returning for exchange and had to put up quite a fight.
