I got a new Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet about six weeks ago now, and immediately installed Windows Vista Ultimate on it. Things were wonderful.
Now, six weeks later, things are not so wonderful. I use both Firefox and IE7 on a regular basis, but IE has become noticably slower recently. Tonight, I finally had enough and decided to try and figure out why.
I started with the Add-Ons. I know that IE7 isn't this slow on its own, so I figured it had to be a third party that was the source of my pain. There were only nine add-on's installed, so I began disabling them one by one. Lucky for me, it didn't take too long to find the source of my pain...
CPwmIEBrowserHelper Object Lenovo (United States) Inc.
That's it. That's the culprit. This is the Lenovo Password Managed browser add-on, and it comes as part of the Lenovo ThinkVantage Client Security Solution. I had already disabled the application from within the Client Security Center, but that didn't remove or even disable the add-on's in IE or Firefox.
Problem solved.
