  • Cannot release items by mail from SMSME 5.0 quarantine

This has been an issue for a client of mine. Apparently even if you select release by mail, and let it send to the original recipient, it doesn't work. Well this product is VERY picky. While it stores quarantine items by display name, it cannot release them by that same name. This actually is pretty bad if it's sent to a huge list of people. It needs fully qualified email address in order to release. Below are the steps to make it work.

    1.        Open the quarantine.

    2.        Right click the item and select release by mail.

    3.        Uncheck the box to “Send to original intended recipient(s)”

    4.        Check the box for “Send to the following”

    5.        Type in the full email address of the recipient you wish to release it to.

    6.        Click OK.

    7.        Refresh the quarantine, the time should no longer be listed.

  • Blackberry Pearl hard reset

I had a customer ask me this today and it took a while to find. Below are the instructions.

Go to Options / Security Settings / General Settings, then click the Menu button and choose "Wipe Handheld". You will need to type in blackberry to confirm your request but your device should be cleaned off after that!

  • How to implement the built in SPAM filters in Microsoft Small Business Server 2003

I came across an article this morning about how to implement the built in Spam Filter functionality that is available in Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2. While this is stuff we all know exists, this is a great how to article on it. For those who do not have the luxury of spending money on additional spam protection software, this is a great way to get some of that spam out of your users mailboxes. We have implemented quite a few of these scenarios such as the IP Connection Filtering which works great. Check it out. http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Microsoft-Small-Business-Server-2003-Spam-Filtering.html
