  • My Goodlink Device stopped working

I found this at TreoCentral.com.  Thought it was interesting...

If your Goodlink device stops working (that is, you cannot send/receive email or you get an error message when trying to access a Good application), here are instructions for reprovisioning your device.  This will basically reinstall all the Goodlink software on your device.

    1. Go to the GoodLink Home Screen.

    2. Type the word 'debug' (no quotes). You will not be able to see the characters as your are typing, however, after typing the word, a command line prompt will appear.

    3.  At the command prompt, type 'reprov' (no quotes) and hit the enter key. You will see a line that says "This will erase ALL data and reprovision the device - are you sure you want to do this?"

This will NOT erase the entire handlheld. Only GoodLink will be re-installed.

    3. Type a capital 'Y' (no quotes). The device will reprovision and soft-reset. After it has completed, you will want to run the fetch command to repopulate your subfolders.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
Running the Fetch command to re-populate your subfolders
    ------------------------------------------------------------

After you have intitially provisioned or after re-provisioning your GoodLink enabled device, you will need to populate your sub-folders using the fetccommand. This will give you step-by-step instructions on how to do this.

    1. Go to the GoodLink Home Screen.

    2. Type the word 'debug' (no quotes). You will not be able to see the characters as your are typing, however, after typing the word, a command line prompt will appear.

    3.  At the prompt, type: "fetch 1000 inbox:*' (no quotes) and hit the enter key.

This will pull 1000 messages from all the sub-folders located under your Inbox on Exchange and place pointers to them on the device. If you have more than 1000 messages in a folder you need to pull, simply follow the steps again to get the rest.

Notes: Only folders under the inbox can be sync'd with GoodLink. GoodLink does not support .pst files.

  • I created a new Outlook Profile, and now my autocomplete isn't working when I start typing in the To: field

    This applies to Outlook 2003

If you create a new Outlook Profile, you may notice that when you start typing in a name in the To field, you don't get the suggested names like you used to.

    Automatically complete e-mail addresses

Here's how to get the suggested names (ie autocomplete) back.

    Exit Outlook 2003

    Go to c:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

If you cannot see this folder, it may be hidden.  Here's how to view hidden files.
Click Start, and then click My Computer
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options
                                  Click the View |
    Advanced settings

Under Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files and folders.

Right-click profile name.nk2 for the new profile and rename it to profile name.old

Right-click profile name.nk2 for the old profile, and rename it to profile name for the new profile.

    Example,

Old profile - Outlook.nk2.  Rename this file to Outlook.old

New profile - OutlookNew.nk2.  Rename this file to Outlook.nk2

The nk2 file contains all of the autocomplete information for Outlook.  Renaming the files will associate your old autocomplete information with your new profile.

Once you have renamed the files, open Outlook and you should be able to see the autocomplete information  you had in your old profile.
